  • one-lobed scales with posterior incision
  • mostly strongly curved spines, rarely with secondary tip
  • mouth with flat, movable lamellae

  • Scales keeled at least up to half
  • spines start at the posterior end
  • spine length +/- the same, lengthens slightly to the posterior end
